Vic: Funding boost doesn't help Australia's needy schools: Labor

MELBOURNE, Feb 29 AAP - A federal government funding boost for Catholic schools should
be extended to other needy schools, Opposition Education spokeswoman Jenny Macklin said
today.

In Sydney today Prime Minister John Howard unveiled a new funding regime for Catholic
education and an extra $362 million to be given to the most needy Catholic schools.

Ms Macklin said Labor welcomed the additional funds but nothing had been done for other
needy schools.
