FED:SunRice to hold takeover vote in April

CANBERRA, Feb 2 AAP - SunRice shareholders will have to wait until April before voting
on a $600 million takeover bid by Spanish food giant Ebro.

A shareholders meeting, originally scheduled for March, has been pushed back as the
SunRice board waits for the results of an independent report evaluating the Ebro offer.

The report will be sent to all shareholders by the end of February.

Ebro is Spain's largest food company and is the top provider of rice in the US and
many European countries.

Chairman Antonio Hernandez was in Australia in December to sell the $600 million offer
to growers in the Riverina.

A spokesman for SunRice on Wednesday told AAP that Mr Hernandez and other Ebro executives
would be back before the vote to further convince shareholders.
