RATE-HIKE FEARS PROMPT SLIGHT MARKET SLIDE.(BUSINESS)

NEW YORK Stock prices declined Wednesday, weakened by profit-taking and renewed fears of higher interest rates.

The Dow Jones industrial average finished with a loss of 1.68 at 3,928.98, after falling as much as 24 points earlier in the session. Most of the recovery in the blue-chip index was made in the last 30 minutes of trading.

Some analysts said the market was correcting after some strong gains. The Dow had added 71 points over the previous three trading sessions.
