NSW: Star City knew of money laundering: report = 2
The casino's owners said today they would not tolerate inappropriate behaviour inside the casino.
Tabcorp said it already had implemented new procedures to rid the casino of drug use
and prostitution.
Tabcorp chief executive Ross Wilson said the activities appeared to be restricted to
the casino's high rollers Endeavour Room and only a small group of patrons were alleged
to have been involved.
Mr Wilson said all those accused had been banned from the casino earlier this year.
"As soon as it became apparent that some Endeavour Room members may have engaged in
inappropriate activities, Tabcorp began making significant changes at Star City to prevent
any recurrence," Mr Wilson said.
The changes included introducing tighter entry criteria for the Endeavour Room and
improving staff training to identify and report undesirable conduct.
"We will not tolerate any of the unacceptable activities referred to in Mr McClellan's
report and look forward to closely working with the relevant regulatory authorities to
ensure that the positive action taken by this company prevents such activities from recurring,"
Mr Wilson said.
