1) Francis Flynn: With the inception of the shootout in the NHL a few years ago -- whereby there is an ultimate winner in every game -- it's time for the NHL to forsake its current way of awarding points and go with a straight up won and loss record. Prior to the shootout, when there were a lot of games ending in a tie, the points system was a fair means of determining standings.
