OLD LANDFILL POLLUTING RIVER, NEIGHBORS CLAIM.(CAPITAL REGION)

A notice of intent to bring legal action against the city for alleged pollution of the Mohawk River by discharges from the former Cheltingham Avenue landfill has been filed with Mayor Albert Jurczynski.

A letter from the Albany law firm of Feller & Ferrentino also states there is anecdotal information suggesting there is a high incidence of cancer in the neighborhood adjacent to the landfill.

Robert Feller, an attorney, filed the complaint that included a petition signed by 96 people concerned about conditions at the landfill, which has been closed since 1980.
